Arab Cultural and Community Center of San Francisco
The ACCC is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting Arab art and culture. They sponsor an annual Arab festival, and offer referrals and services for health, immigration and ESL. Although there are currently no specifically gay programs at the ACCC, the staff is helpful and gay-welcoming.
Arab Resource and Organizing Center
AROC is a grassroots organization working to empower and organize our community towards justice and self-determination for all. AROC members build community power in the Bay Area by participating in leadership development, political education, and campaigns. Call the Center for queer-related groups and events. As of 2014, offers a queer, Arabic speaking community group.
Golden Thread Productions
San Francisco-based theater group dedicated to bringing Middle Eastern works to the stage.
SWANABAQ stands for Southwest Asian North African Bay Area Queers. It is a moderated Yahoo group comprise of people who are 1) "queer"; 2) have background from SWANA culture/countries and 3) live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Occasional social, political or other events are posted. This is a great resource for local events and international perspectives.
Zawaya and Aswat
Zawaya is a non-profit featuring Arab arts. Founded in 2003 by two Arab-American women who recognize that the challenges face the the Arab-American community in the Bay Area requires a creative response. Aswat is the musical ensemble of Zawaya.
