A Place to Belong
GMEM is an intimate support circle for gay men in the Bay Area with roots in the Middle East or North Africa. We are a committed space for you to be your authentic self with people who truly understand your journey.
How we gather
- •Peer-led circle that meets twice a month for two hours in San Francisco.
- •Everyone agrees to confidentiality; you share only what feels right for you.
- •We start with a brief check-in, followed by open conversation about whatever comes up that week.
- •The group is small and ongoing so trust can build over time.

- •People at any stage of being "out" — from completely private to fully open.

Meet the founder
Paul Asfour is a first-generation Palestinian American. He started GMEM because he couldn't find a space where he could explore being both gay and Middle Eastern, so he decided to create one for himself and others.
